Sierra Leone December 2018

In December our team visited the Hands on Africa orphanage and seminary in Sierra Leone.  We had the amazing opportunity to spend time with the kids and bless them with their Box of Hope Christmas gifts that were donated by our generous sponsors.  We truly understand the meaning of the gift of giving.  There is no greater blessing than to put a smile on a child's face.

Thank you for your generous giving! The party and presents that these children receive once a year is something they look forward to all year round.

But these children truly understand the significance of Christmas.. They were telling me how they were praying and preparing (memorizing scripture) in order to reach out to the community on the morning of December 25th. They are going to the village to share about the ultimate gift of eternal life through a Christ who became flesh to dwell among us. Their excitement about sharing about Jesus was touching, even though they know that many will reject the message because most of the village people are of the Muslim faith.

Thank you to the church in Bladenboro who did a yarn drive – the kids were constantly coming to my door for yarn. The girls were able to complete their skirts, now most of them are working on blankets. And the new dolls also received crocheted dresses! So please do not stop collecting yarn.

Every Wednesday evening is Bible study evening then each child is required to recite a memory verse. It was so beautiful to see how the bigger children help the smaller ones to memorize their verses.

We now have 34 students in our Junior high school. Six of our children has to go to the Senior High School in the town over an hour’s walk from us because we do not teach the senior high school grades. This is going to be a challenge for us to arrange daily transport for them.
